Dear Owens Park Residents,

I hope this note finds you well. I want to take a brief moment to tell you what the Owens Park Neighborhood Association has been busy doing over this past year:

- Worked with the City of Richardson and the North Texas Municipal Water District to decrease noise, odor and windblown trash from Lookout Transfer Station (LOTS)
- Worked with the City and District to make sure Owens Park is protected when LOTS is rebuilt and expanded in a few years
- Worked with the City to facilitate neighborhood preferences and concerns on the Owens Park Screening Wall Project and Owens Boulevard Terminus Project... together, that is more than $1,000,000 investment in Owens Park!
- Worked with Oncor to decrease the number and length of power outages in Owens Park
- Hosted social events including Trash Bash, National "Afternoon" Out and Holiday Caroling & Hayride
- Communicated items of interest to you via www.owenspark.org, the monthly
Pony Express and targeted emails
- And much more!

We started our new membership year on 10/1/10. Usually National Night Out is our big membership drive for the new year; however, this year we needed to consolidate NNO with our annual election meeting - a Fall Picnic was held in early November. As a result, our membership numbers are not quite as high as we'd like. Regardless, the OPNA Board has an agressive set of goals for the year 2010-2011 year. For a complete list click here, but briefly:

- Reinvigorate the Neighborhood Crime Watch program and start a Neighborhood Crime Watch Patrol for Owens Park
- Start a "Yard of the Month" program
- Continue social events like Trash Bash (April 23), National Night Out (likely August) and Holiday Caroling & Hayride
AS WELL AS ADD A FEW NEW EVENTS... an Easter Egg Hunt (with Sherrill Park Neighborhood), 4th of July and Halloween at Owens Farm (with surrounding neighborhoods)
- Work with the City to shape how the Bush Station Transit Oriented Development and surrounding undeveloped tracts of land are developed.
- Secure contact information (at least an email) for every household in Owens Park

Please consider joining OPNA via the yearly $20 membership dues (per household). First and foremost we value the opportunity to keep you updated with items that concern all of us living within Owens Park. We are a strictly voluntary association, but if you feel that we have been providing a valuable service to our neighborhood, then joining OPNA would be a great way to show us your support. Participation numbers can also help influence decisions within Richardson.

If you decide to join, you can easily pay your dues in two ways:

You can click the "Pay Now" button at left. A new browser window will open. From there, you can use your PayPal account or a major credit card / debit card to pay the $20 dues. This is 100% secure and you will not experience any additional charge from PayPal.

OR, you can print and complete the membership form and mail it along with your $20 check (made out to "OPNA") to:

Owens Park Neighborhood Association
P.O. Box 850741

Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have.

Thanks and best regards,
